so public opinion seems to have indicted osama bin laden within a mere twelve hours of the event. this, at least, is the conclusion i arrived at based on my interaction with some other computer users earlier tonight. because my job is boring, i entered a political chat forum to try to gauge what the kids are thinking. when i mentioned that perhaps bin laden's name and reputation were being pushed on the general population by a partisan media more keen on hitting the black gold of a reactionary xenophobe's buzz-word-wet-dream than on investigating/arriving at a possible explanation for this heinous disaster, i encountered more than a little opposition. i was way creeped out by responses like,
"WERE ARE ALL THE LIBERALS? HELPING OUT THOSE RAG HEADS DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY! MAYBE NOW THE LIBERALS WILL STOP THE BULLSHIT" and

"sick of the towelheads...send those fucking towelheads back home"

and these are some of the reactions of the computer literate, < 25 year-old future american political culture? i guess people are just angry though. an angry reaction to violence is kind of socialized behavior here.

anyway i was really truly happy to read a lot of the great things a lot diarylanders had to say, maybe we're an insular commuinty. i dont give a fuck. for what it's worth i'm thankful that all of my friends in new york are okay and that there are so many people out there who, like me, are actually experiencing sorrow on a grander scale than we (at least I)ever imagined possible and who are still rational and equanimous enough to realize that as political laypeople, maybe we should reserve our fucking judgment and focus on the mourning that is due thousands of people who were here yesterday and arent today; and, yo- seriously- on the eventual reconstruction and reclamation of our cities and homes
