a friend who is a social worker in the inner city recently had her fifteen year old juvenile delinquent students perform an exercise intended to illuminate racial misconceptions held by others in their socioeconomic position. each student was supposed to write, on one side of an index card, a fact about an ethnic group of their choice. on the reverse they wrote an opinion about the same group. hilarity ensued. also in this entry- some photos promised long ago, courtesy effluvium.
